I plan to use this site to post news, commentary, and analysis of current environment and development issues. Of course, I reserve the right to rant about politics now and then.
Interesting. It seems to me he is saying both (conservatives and liberals) have the same goal, what is best for the individual. However conservatives find it is more useful to the individual to be in a strong group; where as, a labial believes that an individual’s individuality and independence are what is most important.
More political studies! I must admit this article seems the norm, but I myself am fairly liberal and yet feel the wellfare of the group weighs more than that of an individual.
I don't understand how comparing liberals with conservatives can really help us understand where people stand on NR use. My parents our conservative, I am liberal; I was raised under their roof but of course they are very open-minded. People don't always follow their earlier generations because so many things can change the way one individual thinks. I think the reason people treat NR the way they do depends on so many different theories that you can't just narrow it down to liberals feel this way and conservatives feel that way. Like the article said its a mixed political stance that would seem to work but if it was at total equity it wouldn't last long. But nothing is ever totally equal it will always lean to one side or the other making a mixed stance the best way that we know of so far. That way majority of the group benefits, as does each individual within that group. Lindsay Lamb
This was a very interesting article, how he seperates the liberal thinkers and the conservative ones makes since to me. I think that in general the author is right because we as a society need two different ways of thinking so that our society will thrive, but it also makes us stronger as a nation, "group."
It is interesting when you look at the goals of society. The goals of a society are the aggregate goals of every individual in that group. Everyone has the same goal of a better life, but we are all just taking different paths. In my opinion for anyone to achieve their goal they must have some sort of group mind set. Humans are social beings, and we must factor in that when deciding what we should do. Completely ignoring other people's welfare will only lead to disaster.
